Uncommen: Escape RoomSample
The Challenge
"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." - Romans 6:23
On day one, we focused on the willingness to go, but today we focus on the challenges involved.
I've never been to an escape room but have watched people partake in the process enough to see a pattern. The ones who successfully navigate the room have the skills to decipher the clues. One clue leads to the next, and so on until you solve the puzzle to leave the room. If you struggle with puzzles, clues, stress, closed-in spaces, you may not even want to visit one of these places.
Remember, we are God sizing this escape room. What if the challenge was just beyond your abilities? Even knowing the problem, you knew you were not qualified to solve the problem to escape the room.
Let's look at our scripture verse as it says, "For the wages of sin is death ..." As sinners, we can't pay that debt. We are not qualified to, but Praise God for the rest of that verse, "but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Jesus knew the challenge, was willing to accept it and solved the problem of sin. He knew there would be betrayal, persecution, pain, and even death in this room. If Jesus had simply shown up, stamped sin as paid, and then went back to heaven, it still would have been a gift. But the fact that He came to earth and experienced everything you and I have and still was not only able but willing to die for our sins is Godly.
We will all have challenges in life, and praise God we have a role model to mimic during those difficult times. When things are going sideways, read the Gospel of John and rest in Jesus when there are trials.
John 16:33: "I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world, you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world."
Uncommen Question:
Have you accepted the free gift of eternal life in Christ?
Uncommen Challenge:
I challenge us all to remember the sacrifice of Jesus and be in reverence of His power to overcome sin and provide it to us as a free gift.

About this Plan
Most have heard of an Escape Room and so over the next five days, we are going to use that as a God-sized analogy and use the tomb of Jesus as the ultimate escape room. Join us as we watch our Savior do what only He could and overcome death.
