Walking With Jesus (Growth)

DAY 6 OF 7

Growing and bearing fruits

2 Peter 3:18, John 15:8

In our relationship with people who profess to believe, we would see some Christians who seem so mature and others who never seem to grow. People who are growing well take on responsibilities in the congregation, support the Christian community, and help others grow, while some others are constantly struggling with the same personal problems. Why do some people grow up and become ministers in the church, while others remain childish?

Christians don't grow because they either don't want to grow or do not know how to grow. It is a weird thing, isn't it? They become Christians, but they do not want to grow, even though growth is a logical consequence of their decisions. The believers are Jesus' disciples who must continue to be discipled. Christians should long for growth in their relationship with God when they have no underlying problems. Therefore, the main problem is whether they believe in Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior. People living in today’s times are very concerned about their physical fitness, and people who live spiritually will pay attention to their spiritual fitness. Only the spiritually dead don't care about their fitness.

However, the fruit will manifest as we grow spiritually. We will not produce much of eternal significance if we are not spiritually mature. We will lose the opportunity to be a light in the world if we are too busy struggling with the same problems over and over again. We will not go to the next level because we have never passed the test of faith that matures us.

The Father calls us to "bear much fruit" (John 15:8). In other words, God didn't just want to save us; He saved us so that we could bear fruits in this world. God does not only call us to save us; He wants us to be His representatives and bear fruits for His glory.

Reflection:

1. Are you growing? Can you name the evidence of your spiritual growth?

2. How do you ensure your growth?

Practice: Keep growing! The fruit we will reap in eternity will be the same as our growth.

Day 5Day 7

About this Plan

Walking With Jesus (Growth)

The phase of every living being starts from childhood to maturity. The same thing applies to the spiritual conditions of the believers. The believers' faith, perspective, and way of thinking must be correct and mature. That is why "growth" is such an interesting topic to study. We will learn to become believers who continue growing in maturity with the power of God's word every day through "Walking with Jesus" series.
