Walking With Jesus (Growth)

DAY 7 OF 7

A daily fellowship

John 6:48

Jesus stated in John 6:48 that He is the bread of life. At that time, people included bread as a staple food, so we can compare the person eating the bread of life as a believer who has fellowship with God. The picture that God provided seems simple, but the meaning behind this word is deep.

What happens when we eat bread or other staple foods? Food that enters through our mouths will be digested in the stomach using various enzymes. The nutrients would then be absorbed by the intestines into our body cells. Then, the essence of the food is converted into energy which becomes the strength for us to move and do activities. The same thing applies to our fellowship with Jesus. When we believe, Jesus lives within us and becomes an inseparable part of our lives. He gives us spiritual life, which enables us to do the will of the Father.

The key to getting enough energy and strength for activity is to eat regularly, at least three times a day. We always have time to eat. None will intentionally plan to have no time to eat. The same is true of our fellowship with God. If we want to be spiritually strong, then we cannot ignore the time of fellowship with God. We need to have consistent fellowship with God. To stay strong, we can't fellowship once a week or once a year - just as we can't just eat once a week, much less once a year. A fellowship with God must take place every day, day after day.

A fellowship with God does not only talk about providing special time with God and enjoying His presence. We can keep in touch, build contact and relationship with God while working, driving, at the market, waiting in line, or even when sick. Praise the Lord, that we can contact God any time under any conditions. God longs to have fellowship with us, His children.

Reflection:

1. How often do you fellowship with God? What is the quality of your fellowship? Is it enough to give spiritual strength to live?

2. What do you want in your fellowship with the Lord?

Practice: Cultivate your fellowship with God because God never stops talking to us— He will always build, comfort, and give us advice.

Day 6

About this Plan

Walking With Jesus (Growth)

The phase of every living being starts from childhood to maturity. The same thing applies to the spiritual conditions of the believers. The believers' faith, perspective, and way of thinking must be correct and mature. That is why "growth" is such an interesting topic to study. We will learn to become believers who continue growing in maturity with the power of God's word every day through "Walking with Jesus" series.
