Sharing the GospelSample
There’s nothing more that we dislike than people who are hypocrites. In no way am I saying that Christians are perfect. But, if we’re going to evangelize (share the good news), our actions must match our words. This means our lives must align with the Gospel message for our witnessing to be effective. When we fail to live as we should, we forfeit our witness.
In the book of Philippians, Paul tells the Philippi church to live a life worthy of the Gospel. That our lives should reflect the character of Jesus and the Gospel message. For example, how crazy would it be for us to continuously complain about the suffering of our lives and then go to another person and tell them not to complain about the present suffering! That’s not reflective of the Gospel message.
In our sharing of the Gospel message, how we live and talk matters. Why does it matter? Because it either credits or discredits our message. If our lives do not reflect the Gospel (our faith) to those we meet, they are more likely not interested in listening to the message that we share.
The heart of the Gospel message is that Jesus came down from heaven, fully God and fully man, to save us from our sin and make a way back to Him. Before leaving earth, Jesus commissioned us to go and make disciples. Matthew 28:19a says, ” Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit..”
Live worthy of the Gospel so that when people look at you, they see the Father and begin to ask questions. You’ll have the opportunity to share the Gospel message of hope with them.
