A Prayer LifeSample
The on-duty state secretary
One late night, a salesman drove his car to a strange city and tried to get a room in a hotel. The hotel clerk informed the man that there were no more vacant rooms. Disappointed, the salesman started to leave the hotel lobby when a very classy-looking man asked if the salesman would be willing to share a room with him. With gratitude, the salesman accepted the offer.
Just before going to sleep, that generous man knelt and prayed aloud. He mentioned the salesman's name in his prayer and asked God to bless him.
Getting up early the next day, the man told the salesman that it was his habit to read the Bible and converse with God at the beginning of each day. He then asked the salesman if he would like to join him. The Holy Spirit had spoken in this salesman's heart, and this salesman happily accepted the Savior when he was invited to accept Lord Jesus.
When they were about to part, they exchanged business cards. The salesman, who just believed in the Lord, was fascinated when he read the name printed on the business card he received. It said, "William Jennings Brian, Secretary of State."
Reflection
Everyone needs guidance and help from the Lord. Do we realize that everything we have, including our position and strength is nothing before the Lord? Let us continue to depend on God's love and power in our lives.
When prayer becomes secondary, or something unintentional, it loses its power. Those who pray are those who use prayer as they use food, air, light, money (M. E. Andross)
