Advent: Catholic ReflectionsSample

In Advent we take time to reflect upon our lives. We take stock, if you like, of our actions and we recognize those areas where we have not been living out our faith as we could. We then take steps to improve our behavior and give better witness to our faith, trusting in the Lord to continue to guide and support us.
Our Bible readings remind us of the strength that comes when we live according to God's law and put our trust in the Lord. Isaiah calls us to be "faithful ones," steadfastly trusting and living an "upright" life. He tells of the song that will be sung and reminds us of the joy that comes with living a holy life.
Matthew too, in his Gospel, reminds us of the strength of putting into action the words of the Lord. Both Matthew and Isaiah also warn of the dangers of not following God's will, but for those of us who do follow God, we are promised entry into heaven.

About this Plan

Advent is, of course, a time to prepare. To prepare our homes, lives, and our hearts. Join us as we explore the Bible readings used by the Church to challenge, encourage, and help us prepare, not only to celebrate the incarnation but also the second coming of Christ.
