Make sure you are on the path
When you decide to trust and follow Jesus, you have the assurance that God has forgiven and begun an amazing work inside you. The Bible tells us, “I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” Philippians 1:6
God wants to give you a powerful sense of His peace, grace, and love deep in your heart. He will never leave you alone.
Here are the signs of a person who Jesus has truly saved:
- You sense the weight of sin and shame lifted off your life, and you sense the grace of God in your heart. You feel like a new person.
- You have surrendered your heart to Christ. Your life is now Jesus as your highest priority. You no longer choose to lead your own life; you have decided to follow what Jesus says in His word.
- Your life has begun to change. Sin loses its control. Even when you fail from time to time, you don’t want to stay there like you used to because you know it displeases Christ.
Sometimes you feel sinful, like a failure, disappointed with God or yourself, or discouraged. It’s important to remind yourself of what the God’s word says: “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.” John 5:24
When you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, His word tells us that:
- You go from death to life spiritually.
- You were blind, but now you see spiritually.
- You were once an enemy of God, but now He calls you His friend.
- God adopts you into His family as His very own son or daughter.
These are the incredible promises God has given you, and you can trust God’s Word even more than you trust yourself or your feelings. You are a new creation. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
