Imaginate – Collaborate With The CreatorSample
In the Beginning God Created
The first thing God tells us about himself is that he is an artist. A creator.
The very first words of Scripture reveal this. That’s kind of a big deal. Down the line, if you were going to start your message for humanity—you know, the message that would help all those wandering descendants of Adam rediscover you and find their way back to you—you would need a good “hook.” You’d need something that would get people’s attention. Something that would make them take notice…to pause and look. Something that would stir a sense of wonder.
So God decided to start his message this way:
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”
“God created” is the foundational starting point for the purpose and experience of every single human being. Without this, there are no trees or lakes. There are no mountains. There are no deep-dish pizzas. Without God first creating, there would be no us! And there would be nothing for us to create with.
We create because God first created.
Don’t miss that. Don’t take that for granted.
God is creative. Literally. God is not bound by space, time, or material confines. He took a void and made things. Without a palette of pre-existing material, without space, and without time, out of nothing, God created.
And with that hook, God helps us realize that we are mere time travelers and space explorers in constant wonder of an unfathomably remarkable Creator.
