Simplify Your Prayer Life

DAY 5 OF 7

☠️ Are You Unknowingly Drinking Poison?

Shortly after I surrendered my heart to Christ, a mentor of mine told me, “Steve, harboring unforgiveness is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to suffer the consequences.” You see, at the time I was in a deep disagreement with a close friend of mine—and I had allowed unforgiveness to fester in my heart. Fortunately, after processing with my trusted friend and bringing it to God in prayer, I was able to forgive and move forward.

Did you know forgiveness is central to The Lord’s Prayer? Jesus knows if we are going to grow closer to Him and enjoy healthy relationships, we must learn how to receive forgiveness… and extend it to others.

One of the most powerful accounts in the Bible about faith and forgiveness is found in Mark 11:25, where Jesus says: “And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone; so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your transgressions.”What a powerful statement! Jesus is essentially telling us the power of God in our life is cut off when we harbor unforgiveness.

Unforgiveness is poison. It is the ultimate power-blocker! 🛑

Forgiveness is an essential key to our spiritual freedom, victory, and joy. If there is any unforgiveness in me towards anyone, I want to address it quickly. I don’t want a single thing to block my connection with God!

As you engage with God’s Word:

● What is God saying to me?

● What does it mean to me?

● How can I apply what God is teaching me?

● How can I be specific in prayer today?
