KIDS: 21 Days of Fasting and PrayerSample
READ: “You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”—Galatians 5:13–14 (NIV)
RESPOND: Has your teacher ever asked you to do something, and the first thing you questioned was, "Will I get extra points for doing this?" Or has your mom asked you to clean your room, and you asked her how much she will pay you for doing that? We are usually willing to help others if they do something for us. Serving is the opposite of that attitude. In today’s Bible verse, Jesus teaches us to serve one another in love. What does that mean? Our motivation for serving must come from our love for God and others and our desire to be more like Jesus. Serving isn’t about what people can do for us; it’s about what we can do for others. How can you serve the people around you? Ask God to show you how He wants you to serve others. Then, write down how you can serve others in your home, neighborhood, and community.
PRAY: Dear Father, help me love You with all my heart and others as I love myself. Show me practical ways I can help others, which will also show them the love of Jesus. Amen.
