Faith & Love: A One Year Bible Reading Plan - Part 4Sample

I love to watch investigative-type movies. The movies with a twist where you have to try and figure out who the bad guy is. The suspense is so much fun, especially when we argue over who it is or what might happen.
Looking at Matthew 12, we see a lot of questions asked and parables told by Jesus. It becomes clear to me that there was a mystery around Jesus and what and why He was doing things in the way He was doing them.
The scribes and Pharisees were unable to put the clues together. Jesus’ charge against His opponents, then, is that they are like readers of detective fiction who cannot spot the clues because they are too busy with their own agendas. Their speech accusing Jesus of doing black magic revealed what was in their hearts.
The same questions press on us today, both for ourselves and for those who hear the message we preach and live. “Can we see the heart of what is going on in the life and walk of Jesus? The good-heartedness of God and His Kingdom. And can people see this heart of Jesus in our daily walk and life?”
Maybe we need to connect the dots in our own lives in order to help people to discover Jesus.
