DAY 18 OF 20

What does it look like to truly spend time in the Word? For some, that might include following a specific reading plan that allows you to read all of Scripture throughout the course of a year. For others, it could be following a devotional book that provides stories or history lessons that show the specific application of a certain section of verses. And even if you choose different chapters at random, there are many different ways to really wrestle with the text, like using the SOAP method—Scripture, observation, application, and prayer.

With so many options, it can feel a bit overwhelming, especially if you haven’t spent a consistent amount of time each day really diving into what God has to say. But with so many options comes the freedom to choose what works best for you. And you don’t have to stick with one method for the rest of your life! The method isn’t important; instead, it’s enough just to get started and do it.

This week, explore a few different methods you haven’t tried before. If you need some help getting started, ask a friend or two to join you in a specific Bible study or devotional, or create a schedule together. Not only will you benefit from another perspective, but you will also have a partner who can help keep you accountable and consistent.

About this Plan

He Is

Getting to know someone takes time. It’s the same with our relationship with God. God doesn’t just want us to know facts about Him or only speak to Him through prayers sporadically said throughout our lives. God wants us to have a relationship with Him based on us knowing who He is. We will walk together through Scriptures that are filled with descriptions of God’s attributes and promises to help us know Him more.
