I Am

DAY 23 OF 28

Would you consider yourself a good person? If someone is a good person, does this mean they do the right thing 100% of the time? Maybe being a good person doesn't mean being worry-free or that every decision is without mistakes. In fact, it might look a lot different than what we typically have in mind.

It's important for us to take time to reflect on what it's really like to be human. As much as we'd like to measure up to the impossible standards that come with trying so hard to be a "good person" . . . we all mess up. When we do, there's a distance between us and God. We may say or do things that get in the way of our relationship with God and others, which we know as sin. It may get in the way of these relationships, but when we get honest about what we've done, we're able to take steps toward change.

The best part is that God has a plan to help us — Jesus, who provides ways for us to repair what's been broken. God didn't allow our brokenness to be the end of the story. Jesus came to make our relationship right with God. When we trust Jesus and confess our sins and our need for a savior, God is ready to forgive. That forgiveness sets us on the path to repair what's been lost and learn from our mistakes.

About this Plan

I Am

When Jesus was on earth, there were a few times when he told his followers exactly who he was. For the next four weeks, we'll explore some of these stories to find out how Jesus described himself to others. We'll take a look at what changes when we hear Jesus tell us he is love, he is truth, he is always with us, and how he is our Savior.
