Do you think you could tell what kind of plant a single seed would grow to be? You might be familiar with an orange seed, but it looks very similar to those of lemons, limes, mandarins, and grapefruit. It’s very difficult to guess the tree based on the seed alone.

When all you have is a seed, it’s hard to imagine what it could grow into. The seed doesn’t do anything while in your hand or a packet. It has to be planted and watered. It may take months, years, or even decades before it springs up from the ground and grows bigger. You can’t yell at it, wish for it, or jump up and down to make it grow faster. Once a seed is planted, it can grow deep roots and become all it’s made to be.

We are like a seed. We can’t see right now all that God has ahead for us, but when we’re planted in the right things – God and His Word – we can grow deep roots and grow to see all that God has for us. What kind of fruit or flourishing might God have in the future for you? If we plant ourselves in God, we will begin to discover who He made us to be.

God makes seeds grow, so plant yourself in Him and let your roots grow deep in God.
