Day 9: Finding Joy in Obedience
Obedience to God’s commandments may not immediately strike us as a source of Joy. In a world that often equates freedom with the absence of restrictions, the concept of obedience can be misunderstood as burdensome or limiting.
However, Jesus presents a different narrative. He tells us that obeying God’s commandments results in "full" Joy (John 15:10-11). It’s an invitation into a deeper relationship with God where obedience becomes a natural expression of our love for Him, much like how a child willingly obeys a loving parent.
In obeying God, we align ourselves with His Perfect Will and experience a life that is more fulfilling and purposeful. This obedience doesn’t restrict us; rather, it frees us to live in a way that brings both honor to God and authentic Joy to our lives.
Do you view obedience as a burden or as an opportunity for Joy?
How does obeying God’s commandments deepen your relationship with Him?
What areas in your life are challenging to surrender in obedience?
Reflect on an area of your life where you’ve been resistant to God’s Guidance. Make a conscious decision to obey Him in that area and observe how this act of obedience influences your Joy.
