21 Days of Prayer and Fasting With Rock City ChurchSample
DAY 6: DEEPER WORSHIP LIFE
Read: Ephesians 1:3-6; Psalm 150:6; Isaiah 43:7; Psalm 63:3-4
We were created to worship God. In fact, God desires that we worship Him. When we worship Him, we recognize, honor, and express His worthiness in our lives. Our worship serves as an acknowledgment that nothing else – no person, object, passion, or pursuit – is worthy of our praise.
Similar to prayer, when we spend intentional time in worship, we experience fellowship and communion with God. Through this act of obedience, we celebrate and affirm who God is and His power and presence in our lives. In Psalm 150:6, we read that everything that has breath is commanded to praise the Lord. How beautiful is the thought that our Creator, the One who puts the breath in our lungs, receives that same breath back in the form of praise and worship.
While God is absolutely worthy of our worship, He alone does not benefit. When we praise our Heavenly Father, we are fulfilling our ultimate purpose and are experiencing a fraction of our eternal inheritance – the gift of communing with God eternally and worshipping Him in heaven.
PRAYER
Dear Heavenly Father, I acknowledge that You alone are worthy of all my worship. Thank You for the breath in my lungs, and that You are willing to receive my praise even right now in this moment. I exalt You and offer my life to You as a living sacrifice that would be used for Your glory.
REFLECTION QUESTIONS
1. What circumstance(s) in your life may be holding you back from joyfully worshipping the Lord?
