Who Are You Pleasing?

"Do you think I am trying to get the favor of men, or of God? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant owned by Christ."

It is so easy to look to people and do things to try to please them. Think about it. We all want to be liked; we all want to be accepted and to be part of something. Therefore, we “do” things to please others. We go along with the latest trend because that is what our friends are doing. We might agree to do something that we know isn’t really good for us, but we do it to please others. Our need to fit in and belong is BIG. A lot of the time we equate pleasing others to being loved and accepted. The truth is in God, we are already loved and accepted by God.

To have the favor of your peers is a big deal and is something that most of us want. So many times, we live our lives trying to please the people around us, and we completely forget about pleasing the One who truly matters, and that is God. During your week this week, keep God front and center in your thoughts. Before you say “yes” to someone, run the idea by God and ask Him his opinion. You truly only need the approval of one person, and that is God.

Father,

Thank you for loving me and being patient with me. Help me to remember that I only have to please you in my life; everything and everyone else is just a bonus. Give me wisdom as I live my day-to-day life, and I pray I will glorify you in all that I do.
