God's Redemption Story (Judges - 2 Samuel)Sample

Saul - 3/5
“I’m a good person.” Isn’t it ironic that we almost always say this while trying to justify something that’s not quite so good? Sometimes, we point to what we’ve done right in an attempt to minimize what we’ve done wrong or what we aren’t doing.
Saul justified his disobedience by focusing on the fact that he’d made a sacrifice. But God didn’t care about the sacrifice. He cared about Saul having a heart that was responsive and obedient to Him.
Maybe you are obediently stepping out in faith as God calls you. That’s amazing! Maybe, though, you’re using the good things you do as a reason to say no to the things He is calling you to. Has he asked you to serve, but you’ve said no because you already tithe? Maybe He wants you to disciple someone in your life, but you’ve been investing in other relationships. Whatever God is calling to, He wants a heart that responds.
