Proverbs - Wisdom for LifeSample
To sharpen metal, like a kitchen knife, you use another piece of metal. When brushed against each other, the rough edges are smoothed, and the knife works much better. Good friends help each other become kinder, taking off the rough edges. A good friend makes you sharper and better at doing what you’re made to do.
King Solomon was a builder. He built a vast palace and, most importantly, a temple that was a house for God. Solomon spent years and years building the temple, but he didn’t build it all on his own. He had help! Solomon had people around him who helped him lead the nation and build God’s house.
God made us to work together. We can achieve more as a group than we could on our own. Help one another and share the load. Having great friends makes us all better! Swimming champions don’t win gold medals on their own; they have a whole team that helps them. A coach who watches their stroke and tells them what they need to improve so they can swim faster. It may look like they are alone swimming in their lane, but they’re part of a team that encourages and spurs one another along. Their family supports them and has been there at early morning training sessions for years before they became champions.
God wants us to be champions in life. Be a champion friend, son, daughter, brother, or sister! Life is so much better when we are together!
