Praying for Your Wild ChildSample

Praying for Your Wild Child

DAY 1 OF 5

There is no secret sauce to being a solid parent. Wait—yes, there is. It’s prayer. Earnest, persistent prayer changes your children because it changes you.

And just as God knit you together in your mother’s womb, he knit your children together before the world was made. And in that knitting, God predestined you to be the exact parent that your children need. He created you with the strings that would tether you perfectly with your sons and daughters. Not so there wouldn’t be any stretching, challenge, or trial but quite the opposite – so that there would be growth in everyone, to be more like Jesus.

Your spiritual journey plays a part in your child’s journey just as your child’s spiritual journey plays a part in your own. And God weaves them together for HIS good and HIS glory.

Being confident that you are the parent that God blessed your child with allows you to submit to their Heavenly Father in his plans and ways for them. He's a better parent than anyone here on Earth.
And when you submit to those plans, that obedience will build your faith and the faith of your children.

In Matthew 6, Jesus talks about worry – and while this specific passage is referring to money, I think it also helps us with parenting. Worrying about your children doesn’t produce any fruit. It doesn’t bring anything good. Obviously, that doesn’t mean that we don’t care about what happens, or we don’t put intentional effort into our parenting because we just use the excuse that God will take care of it all – he is clear in scripture that we reap what we sew. But when we seek the Kingdom of God, when we seek Jesus and his righteousness, those things will be given to us. And that goes for our parenting too.

So, pray for God’s peace in your parenting. Pray for your children that God created to be used to the fullest of whom he made them to be. Pray for the discipline to seek Jesus in your life consistently and for your children to see that model so that they will do the same. And in these things, lay down your worry at the Cross. It’s powerful enough to overcome your biggest fears.

Day 2

About this Plan

Praying for Your Wild Child

Let’s face it – all children feel like wild animals at times. And as parents, we often feel ill-equipped to raise them the way that we want to. Learning the importance of prayer as a parent brings freedom from the fears of failing and strength from the power of the Cross.
