Praying for Your Wild ChildSample

Let’s face it – there are many days we are weary and are 100% sure that we are screwing up our kids, big time. And there are times when that’s true. We will mess up, and we will mess them up in some way.
Because that’s how this whole human thing works. But there’s beauty in that. Knowing that you will mess up, allows your heart to seek God in the midst of it, knowing that he won’t. Let go of the idea of perfectionism in parenting. And while you’re at it, let go of anyone that is in your life who’s putting that unhealthy expectation on you. When you accept that you will never be a perfect parent, you are able to then submit to the only perfect father. And that allows for the vulnerability that your kids need to see, to let them know that perfection is never necessary or welcomed. But submitting to the one who holds it all in his hands is.
Being a momma is one of the hardest jobs I’ll ever have here on earth, hands down. And sometimes all I know to do is Pray. If Jesus prayed in the midst of his tribulation, exhaustion, weakness, and pain, then I would follow his example and do the same. He knew what he was doing then, and he knows what he is doing now, seated on the throne – interceding in prayer on my behalf. If Jesus is still praying for us in Heaven, then you better believe I’m going to pray here on Earth.
Pray for God to release your expectations of perfectionism. Pray for opportunities in the midst of the mess-ups to point your kids to God’s grace. Pray for endurance. Pray for God to work the mess-ups for his good. And pray for a renewed spirit for doing the good that God has called us to, knowing that he has promised a harvest.
About this Plan

Let’s face it – all children feel like wild animals at times. And as parents, we often feel ill-equipped to raise them the way that we want to. Learning the importance of prayer as a parent brings freedom from the fears of failing and strength from the power of the Cross.
