Celebrate Father’s Day: A Time to Honour FathersSample

In the Gospels Jesus shows us what God, our Heavenly Father, is like. One of Jesus’ most well-known parables is called The Parable of the Lost Son. It’s a story about a father and his two sons.
The younger son doesn’t treat his father very well. He leaves home, demanding the inheritance he would have received if his father had died (even though the father was still alive!). Towards the end of the story, the son returns. The father sees his son on the horizon, he runs to him and hugs him. This father loved his son so much that when the son returned, he threw a big party. Jesus told this story to show that God, the Heavenly Father, welcomes everyone into his family, no matter what they’ve done.
In the Lord’s Prayer Jesus taught His disciples to call God ‘Father’. This is a very famous verse, and very important because not everyone knows God as their Father, but He is! No matter what your family looks like, we are part of God’s family, and we praise God for dads!

About this Plan

The Bible teaches “honour your father and mother” and Father’s Day is a time to do just that. We can honour our fathers, grandfathers, uncles, brothers, teachers, friends, and the special men in your life. Learn about Abraham, one of the most famous fathers in the Bible. But most importantly learn that we have a Heavenly Father. We are part of a much bigger family, the family of God.
