Celebrate Mother’s Day: A Time to Honour MothersSample
Do you know who the first ever mother was? It was Eve! Imagine being the first mum on earth with no one to ask for advice and no babysitters!
The Bible is full of amazing mums, including Sarah. She was in her 90’s when God promised her she would have a baby. She thought it was impossible and even laughed at God, but just as God promised, it happened and she gave birth to Isaac who was the start of the great nation to come that would lead to Jesus.
And we can’t finish without talking about Mary who was probably the bravest mum there was. She was the mother of Jesus, the Saviour of the world! Mary followed God’s voice and served Him with all her heart, becoming a mum in a miraculous way. The baby Mary gave birth to had been spoken about for hundreds of years. He was God’s only Son, sent from heaven to show us how to live and made a way for us to be a part of the family of God by dying on the cross for everyone. How amazing to think that even Jesus had a mum!
Think about what you love most about your mum, or grandma, aunty or sister! Praise God for mums and that we are all invited to be a part of God’s big family!
About this Plan
The Bible teaches to “honour your father and mother” and Mother’s Day is a time to do just that. We can honour our grandmothers, aunties, sisters, teachers, and friends. Whoever the special women are in your life, honour them. Learn about some famous mothers in the Bible, from Eve and Sarah to Hannah and Mary, and that we are all part of a much bigger family, God’s family.
