Celebrate Mother’s Day: A Time to Honour MothersSample
Everyone has a beginning. Everyone has a mum and each mum has her own story. The Bible has stories about incredible mums who gave their lives to build their families, nourish and care for their children.
One well-known mum from the Old Testament is Hannah. She was a faithful wife and a God-fearing woman. But Hannah had one heart-breaking struggle: she was unable to have children. One day, when Hannah was at the temple, she was so sad she cried out to God, asking Him for a child. And guess what happened? God answered her prayer!
Hannah dedicated her son, Samuel, to the Lord. He grew up and served in the temple with Eli the priest. The Bible says that Samuel grew in stature and in favour with God and with people. In time, Samuel drew near to God, learnt to hear God’s voice and became a prophet, one of the most important in the land. All because Hannah, his mother, was faithful and put her trust in the Lord.
How amazing that Samuel’s mum would commit her firstborn child to God after many years without being able to have children. What a legacy! What a mum!

About this Plan
The Bible teaches to “honour your father and mother” and Mother’s Day is a time to do just that. We can honour our grandmothers, aunties, sisters, teachers, and friends. Whoever the special women are in your life, honour them. Learn about some famous mothers in the Bible, from Eve and Sarah to Hannah and Mary, and that we are all part of a much bigger family, God’s family.
