Celebrate Communion – a Time to Honour JesusSample

It was the time of the Passover, a time when the Israelite people remembered that God had delivered them from Egypt. Jesus and His disciples were in Jerusalem, and they shared this meal together. As they ate, Jesus took the bread and a cup of wine and did something very important. Something we still remember today.
By a simple act of breaking bread, and sharing the cup, Jesus symbolised what He was about to do on the cross. Soon Jesus was arrested and sentenced to death on a cross. It was here that Jesus paid the price for the sins of all mankind. His body was broken, like the bread, and His blood poured out, like the cup. But the most important part to remember is that Jesus came back to life again. When we take communion, we remember that Jesus died and rose again for us. We can follow the example of the disciples and honour Jesus by sharing the bread and cup, called communion, with one another.
