Elevate: Raising the Bar for Conversations About an Uncertain FutureSample

As humans, we all make plans! Maybe it’s as small as a to-do list to get us through a busy day or as big as looking a year ahead to where we want to be. However, it takes shape; it’s part of the human experience to think ahead and plan how to best get where we want to be. While there’s value in setting goals and preparing for what’s ahead, these things can only take us so far. There are some things we just cannot know. There are some things we can’t prepare or plan for. Some things just happen, whether we’re ready or not.
Rather than worrying about what’s ahead, Scripture reminds us to trust God in the here and now. Does that mean we don’t consider what we want for the future? Of course not! But it does mean we put our plans in God’s hands, trusting God to take care of us today and for every day to come, too.
This week, make a list. Big or small, write down your plans for the days, weeks, and months ahead. Underneath your list, write today's Scripture. Let it remind you to put your plans in God’s hands and trust God to take care of all the things ahead in your life.
