Elevate: Raising the Bar for Conversations About an Uncertain FutureSample

What is your biggest dream for your future? To get into college, make the starting spot on the team, and provide for your family one day? Maybe it’s simply to get past third-period geometry! Whatever it is, ask yourself this: What happens if it doesn’t work out? Not to be a downer, but this is real life! Sometimes our dreams come true, and sometimes they just don’t. Either way, it’s important to remember that God’s plans for our lives always work out.
God’s best for us may not look like the path we would’ve taken ourselves. It may not play out just how we hoped it would in the timing we hoped it would. But when we follow God, we can trust that the best-laid plans for our lives can and will always come to fruition. We can trust that God’s plans—God’s best—are bigger than any dream we could ever have for ourselves, and that makes an unknown future feel a lot more exciting!
Today, work to memorize Isaiah 55:8-9. When you are dealing with your plans not working out or struggling to see God’s plan for your life, come back to these words. Use them as a prayer to remind you that God’s best for your life is always better than anything we can imagine for ourselves.
