Gratitude
1 Thessalonians 5:18 reminds us to give thanks in all circumstances—not just when life is going well or when we feel like there’s something to celebrate, but in every situation. That one small word, all, carries a big challenge. How do we thank God in moments of uncertainty, fear, or doubt?
Life often brings seasons of the unknown—new opportunities, transitions, or even hardships that leave us questioning God’s plan. Yet, this verse calls us to shift our focus from fear to gratitude. When we intentionally practice gratitude, fear begins to fade. The situation may not change instantly, but our perspective does. Gratitude moves us from focusing on what we lack to remembering all God has already done.
Isaiah 41:13 reassures us: “For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, ‘Do not fear; I will help you.’” What a powerful reminder! We serve a God who doesn’t leave us to navigate life alone. He is present, holding our hand, and helping us through every season.
Gratitude has a way of transforming our hearts. In tough seasons, it humbles us and gives us peace. In times of success, it keeps us grounded and reminds us who deserves the credit. Whether in waiting or abundance, gratitude turns our eyes to God’s goodness.
Let’s be intentional about pausing and thanking God each day. Not only does He deserve our praise, but practicing gratitude strengthens our faith, gives us peace, and reminds us of God’s faithfulness in every season of life.
Reflection Questions:
1.What are 5 things you are thankful for this week?
2.Who in your world can you express your gratitude towards?
3.In what ways can you show more gratitude towards God?
Prayer:
Dear God, I want to just say thank you. Thank you for who you are. Thank you for sending your Son to die for me all those years ago. Thank you for a new day. Thank you for giving me air in my lungs. Thank you that in every season you are near to me. Thank you that you always listen when I cry out to you. Help me to be more thankful in every season. Help me to find things to be thankful for even when I don’t feel like there’s anything to be thankful for. I know that in all things you are good. So I thank you! In Jesus Name, Amen
