The Comeback Part 2Sample

One of the most heartbreaking yet profound stories in Scripture is the story of Moses, a man chosen by God to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. God promised to bring His people to a land flowing with milk and honey, but He did not reveal when that promise would be fulfilled.
Moses led the Israelites into the wilderness, where they wandered in search of the promised land for forty years. During that time, their faith in God wavered repeatedly. When they had no food, they complained to Moses. He brought their concerns before the Lord, and God provided. When they had no water, they grumbled again. Moses sought the Lord, and once more, God provided. Despite God’s constant faithfulness, the Israelites allowed their circumstances to dictate their faith, vacillating between trust and doubt.
As their leader, Moses endured hardship after hardship and fought battle after battle. Yet, after all he had done, his journey ended with a divine "Do not enter" sign barring him from the promised land. But why? What went wrong?
In Numbers 20, we read that God instructed Moses to speak to a rock to provide water for the Israelites. However, in the presence of the people, Moses struck the rock instead. Though the Israelites were unaware of God's specific instructions, Moses knew them. His disobedience revealed a lack of faith in God’s power, and the Lord did not take this lightly. This single act of disobedience cost Moses his chance to enter the promised land.
God said to Moses in Numbers 20:12:
"Because you did not trust in me enough to honor me as holy in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them."
Some might wonder, “Why would God do something so severe to someone He called humble and meek?”
Here’s the answer: The Lord did not forget Moses. In fact, when we fast forward to the Gospels, we see Moses in a moment of divine glory. In three of the four Gospels, the story of the transfiguration is recorded. Matthew 17 describes it this way:
"As the men watched, Jesus’ appearance was transformed so that his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as light. Suddenly, Moses and Elijah appeared and began talking with Jesus."
Moses may not have entered the earthly promised land, but he received something far greater: the real promise—Jesus. He inherited the Kingdom of God.
Let this be a reminder: don’t let your mistakes or life’s setbacks define your destination. Don’t lose heart when things don’t look the way you expected or think they should. Instead, remain faithful, stay obedient, and trust in God’s promises. With God, there is always room for a comeback.
