6 Prayers for Your ChildrenSample

6 Prayers for Your Children

DAY 3 OF 6

Today's Prayer: Pray they would control their tongue and avoid idle talk.

If your children are anything like me or my children, they talk a whole lot.

If I’m being brutally honest, I’m often found talking too much about things that matter so little. Can you relate?

Paul encourages Timothy in his letter 2 Timothy 2:16 to “stay away from shallow, meaningless talk” because it leads others away from God. Meaningless conversation that is shallow and empty seems so innocent until it leaves you feeling just that: shallow and empty.

Be honest: how do you feel after shallow talk? Compare that with how you feel after you have a meaningful conversation with someone? What kind of talk are you modeling for your children?

Today, pray that your child(ren) would speak on things that edify, encourage, and offer hope to those around them. Just like Paul reminds the church of Ephesus in Ephesians 4:29, our speech should build up those around us.

Pray they would not get caught up in meaningless chitter chatter and shallow conversations, but that they would meditate on truth and use the power of their words to build up the people around them. Today, pray that their words would be laced with love and truth!

About this Plan

6 Prayers for Your Children

It is my hope that as parents we are bringing our children before the Lord daily - trusting Him with their hopes, dreams and futures, as well as their protection, peace, and sustenance. With great care we look after their lives and try to protect their hearts, but it’s all for nothing if it’s not all for Him. As we look to intentionally pray over our children, point them to Christ, and exemplify the joys of godly living, I’m hopeful these 6 prayers will encourage you and bless your family.
