DAY 4 OF 5

Day 4 – The Power of Your Speech

Some days, you go from a marketing team call to a boardroom presentation, to a coffee break with a colleague who just needs to vent. Each space has its own dynamics and language. And yet, you’re still the same person. In the middle of these very different environments we navigate daily, a real question arises: "How can I stay authentic and true to my faith without sounding out of place?"

The truth is, the Gospel isn’t a one-size-fits-all message to be repeated the same way to everyone. The message is eternal, but the Holy Spirit teaches us how to shape it with wisdom, discernment, and sensitivity—because every person speaks a different “language.”

This need—so crucial for the spread of the Gospel—was clearly understood by the apostle Paul, as he didn’t have just one way of sharing his faith. He wasn’t rigid, nor did he impose a one-size-fits-all model. On the contrary, he had the discernment and spiritual intelligence to adapt his approach to the people in front of him. He knew that in order to communicate Christ’s message effectively, he first had to understand the other person—their culture, their language, their background. It wasn’t about changing the message, but about making sure it was communicated clearly and effectively (1 Corinthians 9:20–22).

Today, we’re called to live out this same spiritual wisdom and flexibility in the spaces we occupy. At work, not everyone will understand a Bible verse, but everyone will notice when you choose integrity over shortcuts. In a team conversation, you may not always want to say “I’m praying for you,” but you can show genuine love and care for someone’s needs. In the pressure of a deadline, you may not choose to recite Psalm 23 aloud, but you can bring peace and clarity when everyone else is stressed and scattered.

What You Can Do Today:
Think of an environment where your faith feels misunderstood or “out of place.” Take a moment to reflect: what kind of language is understood there? What can you say or do today to reflect Christ naturally and meaningfully in that space?

Prayer: Lord, teach me how to live faithfully in the spaces where You’ve placed me. Help me recognize the language that resonates with the people around me, and to communicate Your love in ways that truly speak to their hearts. Like Paul, I want to stay grounded in You—and wise in how I represent You. Amen.

About this Plan

EquipHer Vol. 22: "Kingdom Values as Your Personal Culture"

Have you ever asked yourself what it really means to represent Christ—and to do it in every environment you walk into? If answering that feels complicated, this devotional will help you gain clarity. Over the next few days, we will explore practical ways to reflect our faith in the workplace, even in high-pressure settings. You’ll learn how to make your faith visible—not just through what you say, but through how you lead, love, and show up, every single day.
