As We Wait on You

DAY 3 OF 3

Waiting on the Lord can be an incredibly difficult task, but it is also one of the most refining aspects of following Jesus. Our culture is obsessed with instant gratification, and waiting can feel like torture. Needing patience sometimes feels like abandonment. But in God’s economy, waiting is often the very means by which He shapes & strengthens us, drawing us into deeper dependence on Him.

However, waiting on the Lord doesn’t mean we sit passively or impatiently until God finally “does something.” It’s an active posture of trust. It means choosing to believe that God is working, even when we don’t see it. It means trusting His timing over our own and believing that His delays are not denials, they are often instead a divine pause for our own protection, preparation, or growth.

During the waiting, not only is our patience tested, but our faith as well. We must learn to let go of our own agendas and surrender our control. We find ourselves praying not just for outcomes, but for alignment with His will. Waiting often reveals our idols—security, approval, success—and exposes where we’ve actually placed our hope. In the silence, God speaks. In the stillness, He strengthens.

There is tremendous beauty in the waiting, it is in those moments that our hearts are refined. Hope is not in what we’re waiting for, but in Who we’re waiting on. And the more we wait on the Lord, the more we discover that He is not just the giver of good things—He is the good thing.

“Waiting on the Lord” reminds us that we are not in control, but we are cared for by the one who is. He never wastes a wait. Whether it ends in the answer we were hoping for or leads us somewhere entirely unexpected, every moment of waiting with God is an invitation to be nearer to him.
