Consider the Lilies

DAY 6 OF 7

Proclaiming Faith

Have you ever been afraid of what others will think of you when they learn that you are a Christian? Do you ever worry that people may assume the wrong things if you proclaim your faith? Perhaps you’re worried about being labelled as weird or different. It can be hard enough to fit in without giving society another reason to shun you. It’s natural to want to be accepted, and we all prefer to avoid rejection or ridicule.

Be assured, there is no reason to be afraid! God has given us his Holy Spirit to guide us through tough conversations. He has equipped us with all the talent we need to share his love with those around us. There will be some who will laugh, and there will be some who will scorn us for our beliefs. No matter how people react, God has given us the Holy Spirit who is our guide, strength, and source of comfort. We can speak with confidence because we are never alone.

Remember that you are not the first person to be misunderstood for their beliefs. All throughout history God’s people have faced opposition and persecution. Jesus himself was misunderstood, mocked, and ridiculed. He did not waver even unto death because he know that his words were true. He stayed strong, trusting in his Father every step of the way.

Your identity as God’s child is more important than the opinions of others. His love for you is unchanging and will carry you through every trial you face. His love is what gives you strength to be unashamed of the gospel. Remember who he is, what he’s done, and the hope he promises. Let these things fill you with boldness next time you feel hesitant to share your faith.
