Adventure in Evangelism

DAY 5 OF 7

DAY 5: The Jailer – From Persecutor to Believer

What happens when the person who harmed you becomes the one who needs you? Paul and Silas were unjustly beaten and imprisoned. Yet, instead of despairing, they worshipped. And that praise unlocked more than just prison doors—it opened hearts.

The jailer was moments away from suicide, thinking the prisoners had escaped. But Paul’s voice rang out, “Don’t harm yourself! We are all here!” The same man who oversaw their suffering was now falling at their feet, trembling. “What must I do to be saved?”

That’s the power of the Gospel. It turns victims into ministers, and oppressors into brothers. Paul’s response? Not vengeance. Not rebuke. Just: “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved.”

Evangelism isn’t only for those who seem ready—it’s also for those who seem hostile. Sometimes, our love in the face of persecution becomes the loudest sermon we preach.

Reflection Questions:

  1. Who in your life might be resistant to faith, but actually is really close to a breakthrough?
  2. How can your joy and worship in trials draw others to Christ?
  3. Are you letting love guide your actions more than comfort or circumstances?
