Collide

DAY 7 OF 15

There are different kinds of things you can do to test the authenticity of something. Some people can test whether jewelry is authentic, or if expensive brands are worth it, or if antiques are worth the money you think. If you wanted to, you could find a lot of different stories about people who were duped into thinking they were getting one thing, only to discover they got something different.

This passage from the book of Romans discusses how, through our relationship, communion, and experience with God, our minds are renewed and transformed. Then, they can better reflect and mirror the mind of Christ and the character of God. When that happens, it’s as if we become more capable of conducting our authenticity checks in the world. We are better able to discern what is actually from God, what represents God, and what God desires for us and the world around us. We don’t have to guess about what God might want in our lives or what represents God in the world; we can begin to learn, know, and recognize it for ourselves. Imagine that! We can start to become a kind of authenticator—someone who knows what is of God and from God and what isn’t. And that’s all because of God’s Spirit alive and well in us.

Spend time in prayer today, thanking God for the gift of His Spirit in us. Ask that the Spirit would work in you to help open your eyes to the things of God in this world.

About this Plan

Collide

Change often feels like a collision. Getting jolted out of the rut of predictability doesn’t always feel good, but it does have the potential to lead to something positive. Scripture is full of examples of people who collided with God and were never the same because of it. That didn’t mean it was always easy, but it did mean they were forever changed as a result. What would it take to put yourself in a position to collide with God?
