Anxiety

DAY 3 OF 30

The Simple Definition — When Worry Moves In

The simple definition of anxiety says it is fear or worry that takes up permanent residence in your heart and mind. That picture matters. Think about your heart and mind like a house. Worry may knock at the door, and anxious feelings may visit from time to time. That’s normal. But anxiety becomes a problem when you give it a key, let it unpack its bags, and allow it to live there permanently.

David’s prayer in Psalm 139 is honest: he admits that anxious thoughts exist. But he also invites God to search his heart, test his thoughts, and lead him out of that anxious place. He knew those thoughts were not supposed to rule his life.

Prayer:
Lord, when worry tries to move in, remind me that it doesn’t belong to me. Search my heart, reveal my anxious thoughts, and lead me back into Your peace.

Daily Challenge:
Picture your mind as a house. Write down one anxious thought that has been “living there.” Now pray Psalm 139:23–24 over it and ask God to evict it.

About this Plan

Anxiety

Anxious thoughts. Racing worries. Sleepless nights. For many of us, anxiety has become part of our everyday vocabulary, even something we call “my anxiety.” But what if God never intended for anxiety to take permanent residence in our lives? Over the next 30 days you will explore what anxiety is, where it comes from, how it shows up in our lives, and what God’s Word says about overcoming it. Anxiety is real, but it does not have to define you. Let’s walk through this plan together and take our peace back.
