Made New: A 15–Day Devotional on Colossians 3 With Jada EdwardsSample

God’s peace is available to you at a moment’s notice. But it can be easy to forget he is in control when our lives become chaotic or deviate from what we expected or planned. In today’s devotional, Jada reminds us to let God’s peace rule in our hearts instead of fear, anxiety, and confusion.
Reflect
Peace is a supernatural gift of spiritual rest and trust in God that is available to every believer. His peace is available to you in every season of life but, as Colossians 3:15 says, we have to “let” His peace rule our hearts. What would it look like to seek inner peace from God when you face outward stresses? Who in your life can remind you of God’s peace?
In the video, Jada also quoted from Philippians 4:6–7. Verse 7 says: “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Peace is a result of bringing your requests and needs to God in prayer. How are your thoughts and emotions affected while you are praying about your anxieties? What qualities of God are you relying on to meet your needs?
God’s peace guards our hearts through chaotic conversations and circumstances. When you allow God to lead you, you will make wiser choices and be more willing to accept his will. What troubling circumstances do you need to surrender to God? What feelings or circumstances are hindering you from resting in His peace?
Respond
As a believer with a new identity in Christ, you have been given access to God Himself. He’s given you a new mind and heart and wants your heart to be controlled by His peace. The good news is you do not have to search for peace or work to earn it: God offers it to you freely.
Intentionally set your heart on Jesus this week. Using Philippians 4:6–7 as a guide, spend time praying about the things that are causing you to hurt, stress, and worry. Then, thank God for all that He has done and still is doing for you. Rest in knowing that the Spirit of God is with you, and that he’s working for you and in you. Let Him give you His peace.
