Day 4: A Grander View of God
Our point of view of God is likely limited. How so? Let’s begin with how we perceive Him. Do we think of Him as the One who created all things and can do anything He desires? We have to begin with the fact that God is able to bring more power and ability and detail to complete any plan that He purposes to see happen. Do you believe this? How about His involvement in the life of His creation? Do you think of God as the Creator who created the Universe by winding it up and then stepping away to do something else? Do you also see God as having created you, but afterwards He stepped away and became uninvolved with your life? Or do you believe that God is intimately and sovereignly in control of your life, and He knows every detail of your life?
You must believe this if you want to see His work more dynamically in your life. Do you believe that God has all of this power and ability and knowledge and willingness to be involved with His power and might for someone else, but not you? Is this the reason you may hear about and see a great work by God with other people or churches or cultures, but you feel excluded from it? Could it be that the issue is a lack of faith in a God bigger than you believe exists? Now this is getting uncomfortable. Right? Good, for this is how we wake up our faith and wake up the Church in America. We must begin to see God as He really is, much bigger, much more holy, much more involved, much more loving, much more powerful, very close to His return, and therefore much more active than what we may be seeing. For this reason, I believe God wants to show us greater things than we may understand and to empower His Church to do greater things for His purpose.
A grander view of God is the beginning of a greater faith in God. However, I do not want to present that great works come only from great faith. Let me be clear. Great works come from a great God. Jesus said that even a small amount of faith could see a mountain moved. However, faith must be real and not a pretense to look the part, or act the part, but be unsure of the object of our faith. It is not our faith that moves the mountains. It is God and His power. But Jesus must be the object of our faith for this opens Heaven’s doors, and the better we see Him and know Him, the grander our view is of Him. This more accurate view of Him brings us into closer proximity with Him, and this close proximity unleashes His wisdom and power into our life. Faith opens the door, and He does great things because of pure faith.
The Church in America is no different than an individual believer in that she must move to closer proximity with Jesus to see His wisdom and power manifested in her presence. The Church is comprised of all followers of Christ, all Christian churches, all Para-Church ministries, everyone of every race, language, gender, time, and stage of life that is in Christ’s family. That is the Church. It is not one local church congregation, or one denomination, or one ministry. It is God’s family, altogether, and our family needs Him as much as any time before. We need Him to move greatly in our presence and to wake us from our slumber to respond to the times that we are in. He is big enough to do this. Are we ready for it? Can we have the faith to believe Him and ask Him to move over us in such a way? It starts with you and me now.
Acerca de este Plan
God is a God of wonders. He wants to reveal Himself. The issue is not what He can do or is willing to do but what He is waiting for us to do. He does great things because of pure faith. We need Him to move greatly in our presence to wake us from our slumber, to respond to the times that we are in. Are we ready for it?
