Day 5: A Magnificent Work

Man is limited by what he can do using resources such as his intelligence, wealth, personnel who are involved, organizational skill, and determination.  God is limited by none of those things. He is and He does for He is.  That is God.  Mankind tries to make of himself a god by his attempts to have absolute sovereignty over his domain.  We see in history that he fails every time with the revelation that what he attempts is impossible, for he is not God.  He is only man, and man cannot do a God-size job.  God is sovereign, and He does reign for He is God.  He accomplishes any and all things He determines to do, for He is God.

That’s the God of a Christian.  His name is Jesus.  So let’s not mix up Who is who, for we live in a developing Western culture that denies God’s existence, and an Eastern culture that exalts a false prophet who leads people to an anti-Christ religion, and others that lead people to false gods.  If we hope to see a magnificent work of God, then we must know Whom we serve, who we are as His children, what God is capable of doing, and what He can do through His people who ask Him to use them to serve His purposes.  To be this man or woman or church or the Body of Christ in America, we must banish any thoughts that the work is man’s to do.  We cannot join the developing mindset in our culture that man is his own god, and if it needs to be done, man must get it done.  That will lead to failure for we are not god, and He will let our efforts fail in order to prove it.

Nor should we join a religious mindset that denies that Jesus is Lord.  That closes the doors of Heaven from the starting blocks.  We must understand that the great work of God in our life and through our life must be the source that ushers in God’s favor.  This requires a personal abandonment of any false images that we may have of God, and to really get to know Him through the intimate, abiding relationship that Jesus Christ offers us.   We must overcome any elevation in our thinking that mankind has the ability to rule over things that only God can control, and see it as the false god that it is.  That is the idol of the developing culture that we live in.  We must see any semblance of this thinking in the Body of Christ as a diversion of the truth if we want to see what God can do.  We must trust Jesus Christ aggressively and completely with what must be done in the Church to help us join the magnificent work He is doing in other places.  I do not want to be left on the bench when He needs His players in the game.  Do you?  That is why the Church in America must step up.

If we position ourselves before God as I have mentioned, will He respond?   Will He create a movement in His Church that will be like a tsunami that starts small and builds a magnificent strength that will crash on foreign shores, including our own?  I believe He will.  I think He is waiting for His family to become serious about the world we live in and the massive opportunities that await us.  I think that He is poised and ready to launch a great campaign that will produce a magnificent work in the Church, if we will open the door for Him.  I believe we live in a time that He will do a mighty work in all His family, for I know what He has done for me.  I know what He has done in millions of men and women who have come to see Him as He is, and serve Him as they are capable through their close proximity with Him.  I have seen churches that finally get it and abandon their man-made effort to do a God-sized job by allowing Him to rule their hearts and mission.  When this happens they see transformed lives as they could never have produced with man-sized efforts.  They are seeing what their God, our God, the only God is willing to do, because they welcomed Him into their lives to do a magnificent work.

As I close this week of devotionals on Wonder of Wonders, I will say to you that I want more, and I will do whatever it takes for Him to manifest Himself to me and through me more than ever before.  I am willing.  I am asking Him for this.  Will you join me and join a developing movement to awaken our Church in America?  Right now it begins with big prayers to a big God for a big task.  But be of good cheer.  Our God is able, and He likes what He is hearing …for it is something He wants to hear.
