The Best: Part 2Muestra
Prayer: Father, thank you for the great gifts you love to give! You provide for my needs and continually prove your faithfulness. Give me faith to trust you even when provision looks differently than my expectations.
Generosity
“It is better to give than to receive.” This is a statement that can be hard to accept as a child (especially around Christmas), but it proves to be true in every season of life. We are made in the image of our God who models generosity above and beyond our comprehension, so it should not come as a surprise that we can find His joy in the act of giving generously! Everything we have is a gift from God, and as temporary stewards of our time, talents, and treasures, we should be quick to give what we have received.
We might wrestle with the question of “how much should I really give to the Lord and His work?” But the better question is “how much should I keep of what God has already given me?” Thankfully, in His Word, God promises to recognize and celebrate the generosity of His people when they align their giving with His heart. When we keep open hands with the gifts we have received, God provides the joy and satisfaction that our hearts ultimately desire.
Questions to Ask Yourself:
- What possessions can I not imagine living without? Why do I feel more dependent on these gifts rather than the Giver of these gifts?
- How could I live generously this week with my time, talents, and/or treasure?
What’s Next?
- Ask God to give you a heart of generosity and write out the name of one person you can selflessly serve in a practical way this week.
