DÍA 21 DE 21

God’s Word is good news!

The Bible is no fairy-tale pretending that everything is nice and sweet. On the contrary. In the first book of the Bible we read how disobedience, suffering and death entered God’s creation. The historical books make the impact of evil on humans very clear. Everyone who has read the Bible from cover to cover, must agree that “there is none who does good, not even one” (Psalm 14:3, 53:3, Romans 3:10-11). That is not “good news”.

But the Bible does not just offer a diagnosis of the human condition. It also offers a cure. When the angel announced the birth of Jesus Christ, he said: “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people” (Luke 2:10). This good news is further explained in the rest of the New Testament, and preached all over the world. God’s Word mentions both the problem and the solution of human sin: “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus” (Romans 3:23-24). That is the best news the world could ever receive.

Does this good news fill your heart with great joy?
