A life of obedience
Being elected by God the Father and being sanctified by the Holy Spirit should lead to a life of obedience. Many people nowadays don’t like that word. They don’t want to obey anybody else, but take their own decisions. They want to be free to do whatever they like or consider good.
But God wants us to behave “as obedient children” (1 Peter 1:14). Jesus says: “Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me” (John 14:21). We should trust Jesus completely and devote our lives to Him. He is worth it!
But, no matter how hard we try, we will fail in our obedience sooner or later. If this happens, we should not give up or panic, but remind ourselves of the “sprinkling with his blood”. This is a metaphor for the cleansing power of Jesus’ death. Just like water cleanses us from dirt, Jesus’ atoning death cleanses us from sin. If we confess our sins, He will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Are you ready to live a life of obedience?
