A Conquerors Confession for an Every Day BattleMuestra
CONSUME ME, MYSELF, AND I
“When we go through this life with a mirror in front of us, the only person we will impact is ourselves.”-Azael Nunez
We live today in such a narcissistic culture which seems interested in only the self. The idea is that I have to look out for myself first, but that is not how Christ calls us to live.
If we always had a mirror in front of us we would be consumed with ourselves, our problems, and how we look. Me, myself and I. How about if we were to walk with a mirror in front of us everywhere we went as we walked down the street? We might pass by someone who is hurting. What about the one we keep passing by who needs a helping hand? What about the one who is about to take matters into their own hands by ending their life?
I believe so many of us feel defeated because we are only looking out for ourselves. When we only look at our own life and trials oftentimes we are going to miss God working in our lives. Therefore we would never know what power lies inside of us.
What if we trade the mirror for a window? Everything would look very different! We would not be so consumed with our own problems but have eyes open to pray, counsel, and encourage the weak. When someone needs help, we could see them. We would be able to see a world that is hurting, lost, and in need of salvation.
The greatest conquerors are people who place their needs before God and say, “Lord I know as I take care of your people, you will take care of me.”
Confession for Today: Jesus, I trade my mirror of selfishness today. I look to you to open my eyes. May I see that I am blessed beyond measure and help me see that my problems and trials are in your hands. Lord, I want to see what your heart sees and not be so focused on my own life. I want to respond to life situations believing that you have already declared victory over my life and circumstances.
