Hit Refresh in 2022Muestra
Throughout history, God’s people went off track and had to hit refresh to attract God’s favour and start winning their battles again.
For example, King Asa came to the throne of Juda after four generations of pagan worship. During these generations when the nation was off track, they lost a lot of battles and society declined into untold misery, crime, rape, child sacrifice, and all kinds of horrors, until somebody finally hit refresh.
In this case, it was King Asa who finally did it. He immediately challenged the worship of foreign gods and cut down the foreign idols, pagan shrines, incense altars, etc.
In other words, he hit refresh, and in so doing he reset the spiritual atmosphere and direction of the people of Judah back to God. Then they began to win battles against insuperable odds – just like the Rhodesian Army did.
In short, Judah became unbeatable because they attracted the presence of God – remember Acts 3:19 says: so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord!
If we have the presence of God, we are unbeatable.
Additionally, remember that even Jesus needed a refresh. After He was baptised, Jesus spent 40 days in the desert with no food and when He was at His weakest, the devil came after Him. A great battle for dominion of the earth took place during what the Bible calls the Temptation of Jesus.
But Jesus eventually won this battle.
Chapter 4 in both Matthew and Luke states that after Jesus fought the devil and won that battle, the angels came and tended to him. Why would the angels need to tend Him?
Well, Jesus was so worn out from the battle, He needed to hit refresh in anticipation of the next phase of His ministry, which was to take over from John the Baptist who had just been incarcerated and was soon to be executed. Jesus was destined to take on the might of the corrupt Temple Priests and the Sanhedrin.
This was a massive undertaking, and as a human man Jesus needed to be at His best, His fittest, His strongest, His most alert, and above all He needed to be very close to His Father. He needed the presence of God!
When we refresh, we need to reset properly and understand what we are refreshing from was probably the product of a tired and worn-out operator who had become confused and scrambled.
To be clear not everyone drifts off track and becomes confused, but we all get worn out, even the strongest soldiers in the SAS and even Jesus Himself when He was a man.
So, we must all come back to the Lord re-invigorated, pregnant with new God-given strategies and new God-given ideas, and carrying the presence of God to achieve the same original goals the Lord had for us before we got scrambled.
Tomorrow, we will explore what this looks like in the modern marketplace and the benefits of implementing this biblical principle in our lives.

Without a doubt, 2021 was a year that scrambled everything; much of which needs to be unscrambled now at the beginning of 2022! In this four-day Bible plan, Dave Hodgson discusses the importance of the 3R's (rest, recuperation, and retraining), applying this biblical principle with his experience in the Rhodesian SAS and the marketplace. As we enter a new year, we must learn how to "hit refresh".
