A Merry and Bright Adventure for ChristmasMuestra
Go Caroling
Christmas season officially kicks off when we start hearing Christmas music everywhere—in stores, restaurants, and on the radio. Do you have a favorite carol? While there are many Christmas songs about a variety of topics, Christmas carols are specifically about the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
How many Christmas carols can you think of? Some popular songs include “Joy to the World,” “O Come All Ye Faithful,” “O Holy Night,” “The First Noel,” “Silent Night,” “Away in a Manger,” “We Three Kings,” “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen,” and “Angels We Have Heard on High”—just to name a few. Each of these carols focus on that special night when Christ was born.
When we sing Christmas carols, we are proclaiming the good news of the gospel for all to hear. Who knew that singing carols could actually have an eternal impact on listeners? Not only is caroling a great evangelistic tool, it’s also a wonderful way to spread Christmas cheer and make connections throughout our communities. We’re able to interact with neighbors and bless groups of people at assisted living facilities, homeless shelters, orphanages, hospitals, or other places where people are lonely, hurt, or suffering. We get to be the hands and feet of Jesus in a fun and meaningful way whenever we go caroling.
God delights in our singing too! You’ll find many verses about singing to God throughout the Bible. When you hear a Christmas carol, take a moment to praise God and express thanksgiving to Him.
Whether things are going well or we’re in the middle of a struggle, these verses remind us that God is always faithful. He is a bright light, even on a dark day—and singing praise to Him releases joy to us and to others.
