Before The Cross: We Are Servants
When someone uses the word like servant, many things come to mind. Typically they are negative and the impression is one who is weak. Jesus was anything but weak and He was the greatest servant we’ve ever had. His example serves us in how to love others.
“For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” – Mark 10:45
God has wired us all differently and given us all specific gifts to be used for His glory. My encouragement to you would be to look where God has placed you and what desires He has given you to see whom He is calling you to serve.
If you’re wired for something and you’re passionate about it, why not think God can be glorified through it?
It could be serving those at a soup kitchen. It could be serving victims of human trafficking. It could be mowing your neighbor’s lawn. It could be serving women at a battered shelter. Pray for God to lead you in who He is calling you to serve.
One thing is for sure, if you just get started serving others, God will quickly show you your desires. The worst thing you could do is sit on the sidelines and do nothing. After all, Jesus served all of us and died for us. The question is how could we not go out and serve others?
We can be confident that God will lead us and give us the strength to serve others through the power of the Holy Spirit. The Bible teaches us that after we decide to follow Christ, we become powerful…
