Blessings & Battlefields: Let’s Seek Healing - 4 Habits to Grasp for Healingಮಾದರಿ

Day Four
Reach
All day long, if we are able to, we reach. Maybe our reach starts with the alarm clock, then to a toothbrush, and then maybe for a cup of coffee or tea. We reach for someone’s hand, a doorknob, for water or food. We can reach for our dreams, our careers, our families, our shoes, and even our feet once in a while. Our most important reach is to Jesus, reaching first and foremost for our salvation, but then for all our other needs as well.
Paul informs us in Ephesians 2:8-9 that “it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.” We humble ourselves before our God, accepting and believing in His one and only son, that He died for us. “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” This scripture (Romans 10:9), which is the active, living word of God, gives us the road map to accepting our Savior into our hearts, minds and lives. Declare with your mouth and believe in your heart.
With those two actions, “declaring” and “believing” we are reaching! Reach is an action verb. It means to stretch out or extend; to pick up and draw toward yourself. Truly, our loving Father God is always reaching for us. He gives us great grace as He incessantly reaches for us, while patiently waiting for us to reach back.
Accepting Christ as our Savior is a one-time acceptance, but not a one-time reach. It is the first reach! All the other reaches in our life are consistently ongoing, as we humbly walk with our heavenly father through our earthly and eternal lives. What a privilege and gift it is to walk step-by-step with Jesus each and every day! Stepping is an action; it is a good way for us to reach for our healing needs with our Savior. “Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit,” Galatians 5:25.
For Christmas I received wonderful, touching gifts. But the one pictured below was the most impactful. However we feel led to reach out to God and Jesus is a personal choice and decision. Hopefully we will be reaching each and every day, prayerfully. But, if you need a visual to start from, take a look at the woman who reached for Jesus depicted in Mark 5:
At once Jesus realized that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my clothes?” …Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth. He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.”
Let’s be prayerful and creative in the ways we reach for Jesus. He is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. And He is coming back. He is available to us night and day, every night and every day. Let this picture inspire you to reach for Him.
Let’s be encouraged! In both our blessings and battlefields of life, we can practice these healing habits with God!
Seek first the Kingdom of God,
Admit our Need,
Take Courage, and
Reach for our Savior.
Let’s pray:
Gracious, mighty Lord, hear our prayer. You are our sustainer, shield, fortress, and healer. Without You we are nothing. Let us feel Your covering of love over us each day. Let us see Your work in our lives and lead us to seek You always and to admit we are in desperate need of You. Give us the strength to take courage with Your help and show us tangible ways we can actually Reach for you. We praise You for our days, our breath and our lives. Help us heal, so we may help others.
In Jesus glorious name we pray,
Amen
A Few Questions to Ponder:
If Jesus was continuously seeking God, why shouldn’t we?
What part of my life today needs my attention to begin a healing walk with God?
