Unto Jesus: Serving With Love and Purpose

DAY 2 OF 4

Day 2: Your Inheritance Awaits

Njenga grew up in the slums of Waithaka, Kenya, where poverty and loss weighed heavily on his young heart. After losing his mother, every day felt like a battle for survival. But his life changed when the local church enrolled him in Compassion International’s child sponsorship program. There, he experienced the love of Christ and discovered a life-changing truth: his worth wasn’t based on what he could achieve, but on who he was in Christ.

That truth shaped his future. With the support of Compassion, Njenga became the first in his family to attend college. Today, he lives in the U.S. with his wife and daughter, working in a role that allows him to support and mentor others. His journey, once marked by struggle, is now a testimony of God’s faithfulness.

In Matthew 25:34, Jesus speaks of a powerful moment to come: “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.’”

An inheritance isn’t something we earn — it’s something we receive because of a relationship. Just as Njenga came to understand that he was chosen and loved by God, this verse reminds us that we, too, are part of God’s eternal plan.

Salvation is a gift, freely given. When we embrace this truth, it sets us free — free to love, free to forgive and free to serve others selflessly.

Like Njenga, you are invited to embrace this inheritance and live in the freedom of God’s grace.

Prayer:

God, thank you for inviting me into your kingdom and giving me an inheritance I could never earn. Help me to embrace your grace and live with gratitude. Show me how to share your love with others. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
