Today's Prayer: Pray they would be peacemakers.

Our world has a false sense of what peace actually is. Peace by today’s standards is actually passivity, where we live in a way that creates a pseudo-peace around us by not saying or doing anything that could upset anyone else. Our world often encourages tolerance, sometimes even pressuring people—through forceful or aggressive means—to accept and approve of others and their actions, regardless of what they are. This is not real peace and that is not my prayer for my children. I don’t want them to be conflict avoiders. I don’t want them to ignore God’s truth all for the sake of other's comfort.

My prayer for my children is that they would have a heart to reconcile, they would be willing to forgive, and they would be quick to share the true peace of the gospel message. In Ephesians Chapter 4, Paul calls the church of Ephesus to be kind and compassionate, ready to forgive the offenses of others. In the same way, we can model for our children and pray that they too, would show compassion and forgiveness to others.

Today, pray that your children will be true peacemakers. Pray for your children to have empathy and compassion, to be gentle and patient, and that they would be ready to share the message of true peace with a world that desperately needs it.
