Shine Your Light

"For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light" (Ephesians 5:8, ESV).

Being in a dark room can feel really scary sometimes. What’s the first thing you do? You turn on a light! Suddenly, the scary and unknown things in the darkness aren’t so frightening because the light reveals the truth—there’s nothing to be afraid of! The world can feel like a dark and scary place, too. But God has given you something special—His light (His life)! He gave it to you so that you can shine His light into the darkness and help others see the truth about His love and goodness. So, let your light shine!

How can you shine the light of Jesus into the world? In Matthew 5, Jesus taught us to let our light shine before others, so they may see our good deeds and praise God.

Dear God, Thank You for giving me Your light— Your life! I want to shine Your light everywhere I go, just like Jesus did. Show me how I can lead people out of darkness and into Your marvelous light. Amen!
